Richard A. Lucherini 84 of Cream Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully Sunday September 18, 2016 with his loving family at his side.
Born in Trenton, he was a city resident until moving to Cream Ridge 16 years ago.
Mr. Lucherini was a Korean War Veteran, having served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1959.
In 1959 Richard joined the Trenton Police Division and retired after 25 years of service at the rank of Police Captain. He then received a mayoral appointment as the Public Safety Director for the City of Trenton, managing the operations of the Trenton Police and Fire Divisions, the City Communications Bureau, and monitoring the Emergency Management Unit until 1990.
Over the next several years, Richard served the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office as a training coordinator, and also for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as assistant to Board member Carmen Armenti. Richard then served a two year term as the Public Safety Director for the City of Asbury Park, from 1995 to 1997.
Richard loved to bowl in a league with his friends from Jensen's Deep Run Community. He also enjoyed supporting his wife with her senior citizen dance and exercise programs as her sound and stage technician.
