Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Frank Karrais Joseph F. Karrais was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on December 2, 1959. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School West, Class of 1978. Son of parents who predeceased him, Josef and Klara Karrais, he also passed into the Lord's care on June 10, 2024. He joins family members who have passed in the last 2 years: Franz Ofner, uncle; Marilyn Ofner, cousin; and Bob Smith, brother-in-law. Joe never married. He is survived by five sisters and brothers-in-law: Christa (Nick) Varacalli of Cudjoe Key, FL; Eva (Kendrick) Lutz of Colorado Springs, CO; Clara Sue (Don) Beym of Bayville, NJ; Margaret (James) Simpson of Hamilton, NJ; and Linda Smith of Allentown, NJ. He is also survived by Elizabeth Ofner, his aunt/godmother, as well as many cousins. Joe was happy to see his adult nieces and nephews at family gatherings: Melissa Rumianowski (Tony LoVerde) of Peonia, CO; Jessica (Paul) Schemelia of Somerdale, NJ; Matt (Michelle) Varacalli of Hamilton, NJ; Mike (Krysti) Beym of Morrisville, PA; Dan Rumianowski (Stacey Szymelewicz) of Groveville, NJ; Doug Varacalli (Emily) of East Hampton, NY; Tiffany (Tanner) Quintanal of Phoenix, AZ; Jamie Tsekhanskiy (Dan) of Montclair, NJ; Anna Simpson (Dimitri Katrantzopoulos) and Zachary Simpson of Hamilton, NJ. Joe enjoyed seeing photos of his young great-nieces and -nephews. He was employed for years in building maintenance, at a local fruit market, and as a roofer's assistant and forklift operator. Old friends may remember him from Lalor Tract or Broad Street Park. Joe enjoyed camping, walking, biking and watching movies. Though he had troubles and many health issues in life, Joe is now at peace. We thank his many caregivers who assisted him the last nine years at Crystal Lake, Bayville and Clover Meadows, Lawrenceville. We also thank the care team of Serenity Hospice who helped him in his transition the last two weeks of life. A private ceremony for the family will be under the care of Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, and interment of ashes will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, both in Hamilton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org/donate). Condolences may be left at knottscolonialfuneralhome.com.
