Obituary of Rose Kernast

Palm Beach Shores, FL
Rose Mayer Kernast, 92, passed away Wednesday January 3, 2024 at Capital Health in Hopewell, NJ. Mrs. Kernast was born in Palanka, Yugoslavia. She had been a Trenton/Hamilton resident since 1950 until moving to Palm Beach Shores, Florida 28 years ago.
Mrs. Kernast was retired from the Hamilton Township Board of Education - Grice School - cafeteria services. Rose had also been employed by Circle F Industries, self-employed at her business Rose's Beauty Liner (after graduating from Wilfred's Beauty Academy), and then became co-owner with her late husband Peter Kernast, Sr. of Mayer's Bakery, Hamilton, NJ, from her father Nicholas Mayer, Sr., for 20 years.
She was a member of the German American Society and the Danube Schwabian Association of Yardville, NJ. She was a parishioner of St. Raphael-Holy Angels parish.
Daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Opperman Mayer, and pre-deceased by her husband of 53 years Peter Kernast, Sr. and her brother Nick Mayer, Sr, she is survived by her sons Peter Kernast, Jr. and Ronald Kernast, both of Hamilton; sisters Anna Hahn and Maria Vas, both of Hamilton, cousin Eva Martini of Hamilton, and nephews and nieces Joesph Vas (and wife Marlene) of North Wales, Pa, Nick Mayer, Jr. of Hamilton, Hans Kernast of Englishtown, NJ, Dorothy Scranton of Bordentown, NJ, and Sally Ann Corbin (and husband Chris) of Burlington, NJ.
The funeral will be at 10 AM Tuesday from Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 S. Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ. A Prayer service will be celebrated at 11:00am at the funeral home.
Calling hours will be 4-7 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
