Kyle - Dick was such a great guy and welcome presence at O's Fantasy Camp. I also attended twelve times, and always enjoyed the opportunity to see and talk to Dick again. He was a great teammate, too! But one of my fav Camp stories was when we played against Dick's team. I was on 3rd base, with the bases loaded. The batter hit a ground ball, and I started home. Seeing that the ball beat me home, I stopped running a couple of steps from home so as not to run into Dick. Well, he dropped the ball, so I had to start again. Unfortunately, this picture depicts what ultimately happened. He had a great attitude about the "accident", and we'll all miss him.

Kyle and family,
Your dad and Anita were two of the first people I met in Sarasota in 1996. Just two FINE people and the type of friends anyone would be glad to have! My deepest sympathy to everyone in the family and anyone who called Dick a friend. May he be at peace in the Good Lord's Kingdom. And, may we all see our loved ones again in the Kingdom of God! Very sincerely, Steve Freeman

I worked with Dick for over 25 years and there was never a time I wasn't happy to see him walk through the door to my office. He was a great counselor, mentor to people and also a very good business consultant. After our professional relationship came to an end, he remained a personal friend.
The only consolaton we can have about Dick's death is that he led a very rich life. He had a loving wife and loving children who were a great source of satisfaction for him. It's my belief that Dick is still with us, if only in spirit. I will think of him often and with very fond memories.
Dick, Thanks for the memories. Goodbye old friend.

Dick was more than a dear friend; he was a mentor. He used his business resources to help me through a rough time in my career. Becky and I will cherish the many hours we have spent through baseball and our personal time together. We will miss him dearly.

Growing up in Calverton with the Thompson family, we shared many wonderful childhood memories with Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, Sherri, Karen, Kyle, and "baby April." My sister Iris and I use to call Mr. Thompson our second dad and he would call us his daughters. I remember him cleaning his car until it shined brighter than any other car on Ingleside Drive. His warmth and laughter will never be forgotten. I will miss him deeply, but I know Dick and Anita are dancing nonstop together in heaven.

Your dad & mom had such a wonderful presence and influence in my life, and I am forever grateful for time with them and the Thompson family. Dick never hesitated to share his love (verbally and through action), and was always a mentor to me. I'm not one to take many pictures, and regret my picture obstinance when pictures become so priceless after someone passes! However, I've shared some special ones, that demonstrate Dick's commitment to family. I searched everywhere for some golden pics of him on the Orioles adult league. Couldn't find any, but I don't know if he would want them shared anyway! (joke.. Anita is laughing)....
I'm thinking of all of you - Sheri, Karen, Kyle & April as well as grandchildren. I know this is hard. However, your dad is at peace and with your mom, Anita at last. Heaven gained another angel, who I firmly believe is with us ALWAYS in spirit.
May God bless all of you.....
See pics of Dick (from Arkansas) and one of Uncle Charlie (surprise - he is wearing plaid!)
