Obituary of RICHARD COCHRAN GREEN, JR. 1940-2021 Hamilton Township, New Jersey On Monday, February 15, 2021, the Lord welcomed Richard Cochran Green into Glory. The best of men, Richard was universally respected as a gentleman of honor and integrity. He was humble, handsome, gracious, and fun, with a quick wit and ready hand of friendship. Born in Trenton, NJ, and a graduate of Trenton Central High School, Richard was the son of Muriel Shaddow Green and Trenton Fire Captain Richard Cochran Green, Sr. Though the senior Richard Green tragically lost his life in 1956 while fighting a fire, his son intrepidly also joined the Trenton Fire Department and proudly served for twenty-six years. Richard was later associated with the Slatoff Auction Company and always shared his love of history and period antiques with his family. He was a fine watercolorist whose paintings were exhibited in multiple Mercer County venues, and he actively supported the arts. Among his many interests, Mr. Green was a voracious reader, cheerful golfer, and talented gardener. He enjoyed the water, whether fishing on Barnegat Bay or watching Chesapeake Bay sunsets on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. All would agree that his greatest vocation was his family. He selflessly supported their dreams and was ambitious only for the success of others. Mr. Green could always be counted on to be a reassuring, elegant, and smiling presence through the many ballet recitals, concerts, ball games, swim meets, and graduations. His children and grandchildren knew "Pops" would share his enthusiastic support and fine craftsmanship skills whenever and wherever requested, even when the calls came from California, Chicago, or Charleston. Richard loved the Lord, was deeply thoughtful, and shared a quiet strength and wisdom all his own. His entire life was a testament to the truth that nice guys really do finish first. Richard Cochran Green is survived by his truly beloved wife of sixty years, Diane Lanning Green of Hamilton, NJ; daughters, Kellee Green Blake and her husband Thomas of Washington Crossing, PA, and Kristin Green Goeman and her husband Stephen of Beavercreek, OH; grandchildren, Kendyll Goeman Collins and her husband Todd of Charleston, SC, Stephen Douglas Goeman, II, of New Haven, CT, Taylor Scott Goeman of Oxford, OH, and Seth Richard Goeman of Bowling Green, OH; as well as many friends and relatives. In addition to his parents, Mr. Green was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Strigel. A celebration of his life will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in memory of Richard C. Green to Signal 22, 1005 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton, NJ, 08611.
