** DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER VISITATION TIME IS RESCEDULED TO WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 3rd 6:00 – 8:00pm AT THE FUNERAL HOME ***
On Sunday, January 24th, 2021, Bruce Harrison, a loving husband and father, peacefully passed away at home with his wife and daughter by his side.
Bruce was born on February 19, 1962 and he was a lifelong resident in Hamilton Township, NJ. So much so, that he purchased and renovated his family's forever home only 7 blocks away from his childhood home. It was in this forever home that Bruce created priceless memories and enjoyed his three passions in life: family and friends, bass fishing and his love for carpentry.
Bruce knew from a very early age that he had a passion and love for carpentry. During his 58 years, Bruce spent 38 of them as the owner and head carpenter of Harrison Home Improvements. He had the pleasure of making dream homes, kitchens, and endless other improvements for many families across the state of New Jersey. Bruce always took pride in the work that he contributed to their homes, and many of the families became cherished friends throughout the years.
Before Bruce became known across the state for his attention to detail with Harrison Home Improvements, a young, 19 year old Bruce worked as a carpentry apprentice. At this early age, he knew it was just the beginning of his carpentry career, but he didn't know that one particular home renovation would introduce him to the true love of his life. While working on this home in Lawrenceville, NJ, a young 16 year old girl rode her bike across town just to catch a glimpse of this young carpenter at work on her aunt's home. From that moment on, the rest was history for Bruce Harrison and Julia Duvin. They were married on October 17, 1987 and created a beautiful life together.
In 1991, they welcomed their first and only child, Michelle. Julia and Michelle learned so much from Bruce over the years and will continue to cherish the shared passions and memories that they created together. Bruce was a devoted husband and father who loved his family. He enjoyed every moment together, whether it was going on vacation somewhere new, visiting their house in the Poconos for a relaxing weekend or simply watching their favorite TV shows together in their family room.
Many of these memories involve Bruce's fishing stories. Bass fishing was a huge part of Bruce's life. Nothing gave him more pleasure than taking the bass boat out on the lake and flooring the pedal to the metal and feeling the wind on his face. The first cast, the first hit, and the race to get the big one to the boat for documentation. Bruce's fondest moments were spent on his bass boat with his family and friends in tow.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Joyce. He is survived by his wife Julia, daughter Michelle (Brad Zimmermann), sister in law Dorothy Miller, brothers in law Mike Miller and Steven Duvin, mother in law Gail Duvin, nephews Michael Miller Jr, Jake Stanhope, Keith Stanhope, sister Cindy Harrison, several cousins, and aunts and uncles.
A viewing service will be held at Knott's Funeral Home 2946 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 6:00 – 8:00pm Wednesday February 3rd, 2021.
