Obituary of Robert K. Gretton

Capt. Robert K. Gretton, USMC Ret., 85, of Hamilton, passed away on November 24, 2020. Born in Trenton, he has resided in Maysville, NC for the past 30 years, before recently moving back to Hamilton. Robert was an aviation mechanic for the USMC for almost 30 years, having worked on Marine One for many years. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Presidential Service Badge. During his Reserves years, he was also employed by Rednor and Rainear Jeep, the Department of Environmental Protection, and the New Jersey State Police. Robert was a member of the Marine Corps League, and was also a HHSW Hornet Band Parent. He loved to cut his grass on his 24 acre farm in NC on his John Deere tractor, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Son of the late William R. Sr., and Stella (Wagner) Gretton, husband of the late Joan Ann (Rafalski) Gretton, brother of the late William R. Gretton, Jr. (Ruth), and John "Jack" Gretton, he is also pre-deceased by his beloved dog, Benjamin. He is survived by his children Barbara and Brian Mazur, of Bordentown, and Karen and Stanley Sondej, of Hamilton, 2 grandchildren Brandon and Bryce Mazur, of Bordentown, his brother in law and his companion Albert "Jim" Rafalski and Helen Ciali, of Hamilton, his sister in law and her husband Shirley and William Walter, of Concord, NC, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held privately for the family at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home 2946 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610. Reverend Erich Kussman, Pastor of St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment with full military honors will be rendered at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
